Sometimes your best friends might not be in your living room for you to enjoy a great TV Show or movie together. Won’t it be great if you could watch it together without being in the same room? There are several Google Chrome extensions and websites with the goal of syncing up your Netflix stream, but many doesn’t really deliver the kind of experience that exist on the one person show. These two extensions will require the viewers to have Google Chrome installed.
Netflix party is a Google Chrome extension. This is the easiest to set up because it only requires one out of the many viewers to install the extensions. The stream is high-quality and anybody in the session can hit pause, play or scrub through the timeline. The stream is full screen and adjusts seamlessly.
The biggest downside to Netflix Party is that if you want to watch a few episodes of something or another movie, you’ll have to create a new session every time. Even if Netflix autoplays to the next episode, it will kick everyone out of the session and you’ll have to send out a new link to everyone.
Showgoers is a Google Chrome-exclusive extension and its definitely the best overall. The stream delivers high quality playback and the service is very fast. There are very few buffering. It is very similar to Netflix party but requires everyone to have Google Chrome account and the extension installed. It will drop the sharing party if you decide to go to a different movie or episode, but it has an improved chat feature that allows you to pick your own name. Just send the syncing link to anyone you want after you start playing a show or movie and anyone can pause, play or scrub through the stream.
Showgoers also has a public viewing party section of their website which allows you to join strangers’ viewing parties.See Also: 5 reasons why Netflix should be your go-too streaming service
