Google Cloud Print

Google cloud print is a free service that allows printing from your Desktop, laptops, mobile phone or tablet to any web-connected printer.  The service also allows users to easily discover printers and print from their own device without the need for complex setup and driver installation.

There are some prerequisites before setting up Google Cloud printing service.

  • A computer running Chrome, Linux, OS X v10.7 or later and macOS, or Windows XP or later, or Chromebook
  • Google Chrome browser installed on the computer
  • A Google account
  • A Google Cloud Print Ready printer connected to the same network as your computer with an active Internet connection

  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the Chrome browser , and then sign in to your Google account.
  3. Click the Chrome menu icon , and then select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  4. In the Settings window, scroll down and select Show advanced settings….
    1. If your printer is listed under New devices, click Register, then click Register again to confirm and print a confirmation page. For some printers, you might be prompted to complete the registration from the printer control panel.
    2. If your printer is listed under My devices, your printer is already registered with Google Cloud Print. Click Manage to view your registered Google Cloud Print printers.
    3. If your printer is not listed, make sure your printer is connected to the network or try connecting with your printer’s email address. Go to Setting Up and Using HP ePrint to learn how to set up the HP ePrint service. Next, go to Connect Your HP Printer with Google Cloud Print to register your printer using the email address that HP ePrint assigned to the printer.
Scroll down to Google Cloud Print, then click the Manage button.
Google Cloud Print detects any printers on the network.

Printing Services

Another easy approach for printing is through proprietary installed services from printer manufacturers. The caveat of this approach is that your android device must be on the same network as the printer, where as with Google Cloud Printing, you can print from literally anywhere.

This approach is ideal for offices where your devices is connected to company WIFI networks.

Step 1. Download the service from Google Play Store. The service to install will in depend on the brand of your printer. If your printer is HP then download the HP print service.

After the installation finish, select the document to print.

Step 2. Select menu on the right which is indicated by three dots, then select print.

Step 3. Considering the right service is installed and the printer is still supported by its manufacturer, the printer will appear.

Step 4. Select the printer and – boom! You are now printing on your Android phone or tablet.
